This site records ancestors and descendants of Owen Henry SPAIN (1857-1941). The family tree currently starts with William SPAIN who was born circa 1700 in the Folkestone or Romney Marsh area. A marriage to an army officer took a branch of the Spain family to Gibraltar around 1820 and on to Australia while another branch moved north to the potteries at Stoke-on-Trent around 1850. There are believed to be other branches in the Ramsgate area that have not yet been linked to this tree.

The direct ancestor's line has been researched "beyond reasonable doubt". Resources used include on-line records, parish registers, census returns, wills and civil registration documents. Other family member details (including spouse families) have been compiled from various sources which may not have been authenticated. Research is on going and any information will be gratefully received via the contact page.
